13/07/08: Tucker wins at Goodwood Festival of Speed July 13 2008 Tucker Torpedo Number 49 won Best in Class at the prestigious Cartier Style et Luxe Concours D`Elegance at the Goodwood Festival of Speed in Sussex, England.
The Torpedo was competing in the `Adventurous Designs from Post-War America` category and was described in the New Perspective Class as `pioneering`. It was one of the stars of the show that also featured the ex-Steve McQueen Ferrari 250 Lusso and the `Trossi Roadster` 1930 Mercedes-Benz 710 SSK owned by Ralph Lauren. The judges at this year`s Cartier Awards included Queen rock musician Roger Taylor and acclaimed architect Sir Norman Foster. This
is the second award that the car has won in only it`s second public
appearance in England having previously won Best American at the Classic
and Sports Car show at the Alexandra Palace in London in February 2008
where it stole the show
